Job Summary
The Junior Electrical Engineer (E.I.T.) will provide electrical and instrumentation engineering support on a variety of projects/clients including modifications to existing facilities, conceptual design of improvement ideas, replacement of existing equipment and design and implementation of new capital projects.
Education & Qualifications
* Graduate of a recognized university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
* Registered as a E.I.T. with APEGA.
* Familiarity with relevant electrical codes (CSA, IEEE, API, ANSI, CEC).
* Familiarity with development of single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, electrical layouts, cable schedules, EHT isometrics and other key design documents.
* Familiarity with CAD design software is considered an asset.
* Experience with power system design software (ETAP, SKM, CYME) and reporting is considered an asset.
* Experience with smart plant instrumentation (SPI) is considered an asset.
* Progressive EPC project management or project engineering experience in the oil and gas industry is considered an asset.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs used to create reports and documents.
* Site/field based industrial work experience is considered an asset.
Responsibilities
* Execute electrical engineering activities within a multi-discipline scope of work under the supervision of a professional engineer that includes detailed design, procurement support, construction support and commissioning, depending on the needs of the client.
* Participate in multi-discipline projects, including developing deliverables from concept through calculations and detailed design.
* Remain current with developing technologies in both electrical engineering as well as control and instrumentation technologies.
* Perform calculations including load studies, equipment protection sizing, lighting levels, hazardous area classifications, cable sizing and voltage drop.
* Develop Engineering Work Packages including single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, electrical layouts, control panel layouts, instrument layouts, installation details, hazardous area layouts, and written construction work steps under the supervision of a professional engineer.
* Understand and complete work within established project budgets ensuring work is completed according to the defined contractual scope and execution strategy.
* Provide additional support as needed including learning the work requirements of other disciplines (process, mechanical, structural) to deliver well-rounded solutions to clients.
* Collaborate with internal and external senior engineers and designers for support and development on more challenging tasks.
* Demonstrate commitment to safety and quality
* Travel to the field for project scoping, verification, construction support and meeting with clients as needed.

Position Conditions
* Hours of work per week may vary depending on available work and skillset of individual, but the intention is that this is a full-time position.
* Salary is commensurate with APEGA salary scale.
* Job is typically performed in an office environment.
* Site travel may be required depending on the project.
