As an Electrical Engineering associate with Honda of Canada Mfg., you will be involved with the design of new and existing equipment, PLC programming, managing projects through theme creation, data collection, costing and budget tracking. You will complete technical investigations, troubleshooting, modifying and updating equipment specifications, leading installation and construction projects, and coordinating and supervising contractors and vendors. You will be responsible for identifying and implementing countermeasures for quality concerns, equipment cycle time problems, as well as providing support for Equipment Services and Production when required.
Help HCM meet our Triple Zero initiative such as reduction of CO2, clean energy, resource circulation, and other Environmental activities.
Pay $33.31 - $43.11 plus over-time and bonuses.
Responsibilities:
* Manage and lead projects of various complexities including initial investigation, project and budget approval, resource management, testing, and implementation.
* Collaborate with various HCM departments including Engineering, Process, Specification, and Purchasing on equipment specification, design and procurement.
* Lead and support equipment commissioning, modifications, and installations
* Create, modify, or review electrical designs using tools such as CATIA, AutoCAD, and simulation software.
* Create, modify, or review electrical control programs using various software tools for PLCs, Robots, HMIs and other components.
* Use Root Cause Analysis to develop and implement equipment improvements including equipment efficiency, reliability, safety, and recovery processes
* Prepare and complete reports and documentation for downtime, Root Cause Analysis, countermeasure activity, project status updates, and follow-up activities (PDCA)
Requirements:
* Electrical Engineering degree or Electrical Engineering Technologist diploma or equivalent training and experience
* Ability to create and interpret electrical schematics and drawings
* Experience with PLC programming and HMIs
* Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel; use of advanced functions (VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, IF Formulas), manage and format data
Preferred Experience:
* Previous engineering work experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred.
* Knowledge of Ontario Electrical Safety Code, Safeguarding of Machinery, and Industrial Robots and Robot Systems.
* Strong quantitative and analytical approach to problem solving and decision making.
* Strong reporting skills using Excel, PowerPoint, Smartsheets, and Power BI.
* Experience developing project scope, schedule creation, and status tracking.
* Experience coordinating and supervising contractors and support groups to execute planned equipment installation or modifications.
* Experience creating, managing and tracking project budgets, and regularly reporting on status updates.
* Experience participating in vendor/supplier selection and procurement process.
* Experience troubleshooting, integrating, and programming automated equipment including HMIs, PLCs, robot teaching, vision systems, variable frequency drives, servo drives, conveyor systems, safety scanners, and sensors.
* Demonstrated experience with Catia and AutoCAD or equivalent software
* Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work and problem-solve independently.
* Demonstrated initiative through leadership and problem investigation and solution implementation.
* Demonstrates a go-to-the-spot, 4M, hands-on engineering mindset.
* Experience implementing environmental and sustainability projects or initiatives

Additionally, HCM provides weekly, monthly, and annual attendance bonuses, equaling a potential additional $1.40 per hour; a Team Achievement Bonus paid two times per year; an industry leading Defined Contribution (DC) pension that includes company contributions and company matching; and a comprehensive benefit plan that provides choice and flexibility with the cost subsidized by company contributions. HCM also provides shift premiums of 5% for afternoon shift, and 10% for the overnight shift.
