Job Description
Voltas Engineering Ltd. is currently looking for a qualified Electrical Engineer for a wide variety of electrical power systems projects including power distribution design for residential and commercial buildings.
Job Duties:
* Electrical design of building systems, including lighting, power distribution system, life safety, standby power, fire alarm, electronic safety and security and communications systems.
* Technical calculations and software use for lighting analyses, load calculations, arc flash, fault & amp; coordination studies, power system design.
* Prepare single line diagrams, three line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
* Develop building electrical systems adhering to client needs, regulatory codes, and industry standards.
* Design power distribution systems, conduct load calculations, and optimize device sizing for efficiency.
* Create lighting layouts and validate designs through meticulous calculations.
* On site electrical research, construction audits, field reviews.
* Writing detailed and concise technical reports, feasibility studies, proposals, including written responses and instructions as required during all project phases.
* Maintain consistent communication with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure design cohesion.
* Present designs effectively to consultants and stakeholders for approval and feedback.
* Conducting all tasks in cooperation with internal clients and other engineering disciplines.
* Managing and enhancing client relationships.
* Providing technical and administrative support through all phases of the project.
Requirements:
* Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience with commercial, residential, mixed-use buildings.
* Experience with AGi32 Software is considered an asset.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office.
* Degree in electrical engineering.
* Construction industry experience with expertise in power distribution, lighting, telecommunications, and fire alarm/life safety systems within building projects.
* Demonstrated proficiency in conducting technical design calculations and adhering to relevant codes and standards including the Canadian Electrical Code, BC Building Code, Fire Codes/Standards, and ASHRAE 90.1.
* Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, enabling effective problem-solving and innovative design solutions.
* BC Drivers license or eligible to get one upon relocation.
Qualifications
* Membership or eligibility for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of the Province of British Columbia (APEGBC).
* Ability to work independently to deliver comprehensive designs and contracts, often with demanding timelines.
* Experience with utility companies, authorities having jurisdiction, and applicable codes, standards and work practices.
* Excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD.
* Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar drafting software.
* Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and/or National Electrical Code.
* Exemplary interpersonal skills with team members and clients.

* Good initiative, attention to detail.
* Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
* This job is performed indoors in traditional office setting with frequent visits to site.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
