POSITION SUMMARY
The successful candidate will perform a variety of tasks related to heating and ventilation in Division schools and other buildings.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
* installing, maintaining and repairing a wide variety of pneumatic and DDC controls, instrumentation and building operating systems related to heating, cooling and ventilation in Division schools and other buildings
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
* valid Alberta Journeyperson Instrument Technician certificate
* possession of a valid Alberta Journeyperson Electrician certificate is desirable
* third or fourth year instrumentation apprentices may be considered
Skills and Abilities
* advanced technical skills and experience related to building automation systems
* ability to diagnose building automation probable causes and determine the necessary corrective actions for repairs
* preference will be given to candidates that possess a strong electrical background/training as troubleshooting of motor control circuits and various equipment with or without wiring diagrams is required
* mechanically inclined-troubleshooting various eras of heating, cooling and ventilation systems is required as well as assisting other trades frequently in problem solving
* must be in good physical condition and have the ability to:
* lift up to 25kg
* climb ladders and work at heights
* undertake tasks involving frequent bending and kneeling
* work in tight, cramped or confined spaces
* distinguish colors to work with color coded wiring
* ability to work independently and as part of a team
* must possess good written and oral communication skills
* strong computer skills required
experience with working in an educational/institutional or commercial environment
RATE OF PAY
$41.86 per hour plus $1.06 per hour for dual certification
Advance on Expenses: $424.92 biweekly
CLOSING
Hours: 7:30 am. - 4:00 p.m. (Shift start and end times may be altered)
The successful candidate:
* must be prepared to use personal vehicle to travel to Division schools and buildings
* be available to respond to after hours emergencies
* must possess a valid Alberta driver's license
* must satisfactorily complete required occupational health and safety courses supplied by the Division (First Aid, WHMIS, Confined Spaces, Asbestos training and other training as required)
