Under the direction of the Technical Superintendent, and the guidance of the Lead Hand, the Marine Electrician executes the maintenance of electrical components of our equipment in line with the company's and industry’s safety policies and regulations to ensure the optimal status of the equipment, its operability, and availability.
This position falls under a Memorandum of Understanding between the Technical Team and SAAM Towage Canada. Its benefits, rate of pay and entitlements are stipulated under this agreement. Traveling might be required from time to time.

Some of the Job functions for this role will be:
▪ Inspects the operation of electrical equipment, energy control, voltage, and electric current of our company’s fleet to prevent or resolve operating failures to maintain the equipment in good condition and achieve the performance required from the fleet assets.
▪ Analyzes operation and maintenance equipment manuals to follow the manufacturer's recommendations to verify the information that allows its proper use, replacement, or troubleshooting.
▪ Performs installations and assemblies of electrical equipment to achieve compliance with scheduled maintenance routines.
▪ Records all control failures, incidents, and accidents to people, the environment, the company’s image, and/or assets to contribute to the continuous improvement of maintenance processes, and look after the required equipment functionality while abiding by SHEQ policies and best industry practices
▪ Executes all company’s SHE-Q processes considering the safety and protection of employees, the environment, and the assets, including participation in toolbox safety talks to ensure the prevention of incidents and accidents and contribute to furthering a safety culture and improving risk awareness.
▪ Supports the marine technicians with minor mechanical repairs to contribute to the safest and most reliable maintenance goals of the fleet.
▪ Provides support to contractors while gaining knowledge on jobs related to anything electrical or with an electrical component to support continuous learning and disseminate this learning to coworkers, promoting self-reliance and commitment to education and continuous improvement.
▪ Reacts to change productively and undertakes other tasks as assigned.
To qualify for this position you must possess all of the following minimum requirements:
* Red Seal Electrician Certification or a Diploma in Electronics
* 2-3 Year’s experience in a technical electrician capacity
* At least 3 years experience in a marine technical position
* Experience with Occupational Health & Safety
* Must be able to provide On-Call support
* Must be able to travel within Canada by air
* Must be legally allowed to work in Canada
* Must have a valid BC Driver's License
