Job Description
The Electrical Technician is responsible for evaluating engineering department proposals, machine drawings, and to design and maintain sound electrical practices to conform to industry regulated electrical design safety. Additionally, the Electrical Technician is to provide technical assistance to maintenance and process engineering personnel when electrical or engineering problems are encountered before, during, and after machine launches.
Job Duties
1. Electrical Design and Programming
* Design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products and systems for industrial purposes.
* Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, constructions, installation and safety standards and specifications.
* Develop, maintain, and modify PLC and HMI operator interface displays on an ongoing and as-needed basis.
* Analyze and interpret test information to resolve electrical design-related problems.
* Provide specifications for the installation of electrical control systems and solid state equipment.
* Provide technical assistance to maintenance personnel when electrical or engineering problems arise.
* Maintain plant compliance with ESA requirements
* Recommend energy efficient improvements where appropriate
* Develop, maintain and modify robot programs in new and existing applications
2. Program Launches
* Generate detailed bill of material lists for incoming equipment for the purpose of electrical installation.
* Plan, schedule and monitor work of maintenance personnel during machine installation.
* Inspect completed installations and observe operations, to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operation and safety standards.
* Assist in the development of commissioning procedures for new and existing electrical installations.
* Prepare project costs and work-time estimates
3. Project Planning
* Assist in the development of capital project programs for new equipment and major repairs.
* Prepare detailed electrical bill of materials for the sourcing of electrical, control or automation hardware.
* Review contracts and project proposals, review and coordinate modifications to contract specification and plans throughout the project lifecycle.
* Compile data and write reports regarding existing and potential electrical engineering studies and projects.
4. Communication
* Interact with Engineering Manager and Maintenance Manager regarding all program launches and machine requirements.
* Assist with supervisory duties such as recommending work assignments and completing performance evaluations.
* Design and implement training procedures for electrical maintenance personnel
