About your role
We have an opportunity to support growth and development within our industry, QAL is offering a number of Process Operator Traineeships across our site. In undertaking this 2-year Traineeship, you can expect hands on industry training and mentoring by QAL’s talented workforce. Reporting directly to the relevant section Supervisor, Process Operator Trainees are responsible for the safe control and operation of basic plant and equipment within their section. You will contribute to our Safe, Stable and Sustainable vision by:
Ensuring all work is performed in accordance with site health, environmental and community policies, systems and procedures Displaying a basic level of skills and understanding in performing or supporting production operations Demonstrating a basic knowledge of section process and equipment to assist with problem solving and diagnosis of equipment faults Developing competency in the use of basic hand tools necessary for the work involved including (but not limited to) pneumatic and compressed air tools, water and liquor hoses, basic valve and pump operation, gasket fitting for screen boxes and blind / spacer swaps Performing routine equipment changes and isolations Assisting team members in emergency breakdowns Contributing to ongoing improvement of work processes, procedures and practices Demonstrating basic computer skills Completing regular housekeeping functions

Demonstrated commitment to your safety and the safety of your team Motivation to achieve individual and team goals The ability to perform physical work on the 12-hour continuous shift roster in a hot industrial environment The motivation to work collaboratively to achieve individual and team goals Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise and multi-task as required The ability to communicate effectively with peers and various contracting groups
